Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.'s Plan to Use Government Bonds to Help First-Time Home Buyers

Breitbart reports: Democratic presidential contender Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. said this weekend that the government should assist first-time home buyers by offering them discounted 3 percent mortgages, financed by selling tax-free U.S. Treasury bonds. “I’m gonna give everybody a ‘rich uncle’ — it’s gonna be Uncle Sam,” he said. “I’m going to have Uncle Sam cosign those mortgages. This new class of mortgages is going to be for single-home buyers in those communities who are going to live and work there.” The proposal is similar to one floated by the late conservative Harvard economist Martin Feldstein, who wrote in June 2008 that the U.S. could avoid turning the subprime mortgage crisis into a full-blown financial crisis by using the government to offer partial financing to homeowners whose mortgages were more expensive than the value of their homes. The suggestion was not taken up; three months later, Lehman Brothers failed and the market crashed. Kennedy described the decline of homeownership among young Americans as a problem not just for the economy, but also for American democracy, which has historically relied on a large and growing middle class for stability. An Argument for the Relevance of RFK, Jr.

Scheerpost reports: The U.S. today is facing catastrophe with the leading 2024 election candidates of both the Democratic and Republican parties being fatally compromised at a moment when our foreign policy is on the verge of collapse. The most credible candidate remaining on either side may be Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. whose standing is rising daily. Even though only about 20 percent of Democratic voters favor him over Biden, his numbers will rise dramatically as Biden fades into oblivion. Kennedy’s hopes are similar to his father’s in 1968, starting with no perceived chance against Lyndon Johnson or Hubert Humphrey but close to becoming the front-runner when he was assassinated. The Biden administration is courting such an eventuality by denying Kennedy Secret Service protection, but I assess they’ll fail at this particular dirty trick. While until now the mainstream media have dumped on RFK, Jr. big-time, that may be changing. He just got his first indication of mainstream support in a recent Forbes article on his economic program. He is reaching large audiences with his Joe Rogan and Tucker Carlson interviews. He is showing himself a serious candidate with his measured stance on stopping the Ukraine war and skepticism about COVID-related policy. His vow to rebuild the American middle class is a meaningful, realistic goal that has the potential for traction. His stance on the issues is showing appeal to Republican voters looking for an alternative to Trump. Read the full article here. NYC Voters Explain Why They’re Voting for RFK, Jr. Over Biden: ‘Going To Unify the Nation'

Fox News reports: Kennedy addressed a crowd of about 800 people gathered in a Brooklyn warehouse Wednesday, speaking on a number of topics, including immigration, inflation, the housing market, and ending the war in Ukraine. Voter, Wallie Wolfgruber, said she is "very excited" about Kennedy's candidacy, and hopes that he will "bring more unity and peace" to America and the world. "After all this separation, just to be able to be tolerant again, tolerant of each other's different opinions," Wolfgruber, who said she was originally from Germany but is a U.S. citizen, told Fox News Digital. "The right to have an opinion and to express it is so basic in a democracy, and I feel it kind of going away." "I'm running against two presidents who both served one term and essentially are gaslighting the American people by telling them that they produced a wave of prosperity for this country. They are running on that record," Kennedy said, garnering applause. Read the full article here. If you resonate with this message please subscribe to our newsletter to learn more.

RFK, Jr. Asked the Right Questions About Immigration. Will Other Candidates?

The Hill reports: Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. came to Yuma, Ariz., in early June to learn firsthand just how the migrants and the local citizens have been affected by the policies pursued by the current administration. He sought my perspective on the current crisis as the recently retired chief patrol agent with the U.S. Border Patrol... Kennedy’s solution to the humanitarian disaster at the border should garner broad bipartisan support. First, he proposes regaining control over the border with technology, physical barriers and trained personnel — in other words, to rebuild what the current administration has dismantled and defunded. Contrary to the narrative pushed by those benefiting from the current chaos, this is easily achievable. Second, he proposes getting on top of asylum claims. Currently, migrants are simply walking across the border in many areas and claiming asylum. Even though only 15 percent of asylum claims are normally approved, they know that, because there are so many millions of backlogged cases, they will be processed and transported into the country before any hearing to determine the validity of their claims, if such hearings ever take place at all. Kennedy credibly argues that if claimants to political asylum understood that their case would be determined swiftly at the border before they were granted entry into the country, most would forgo the considerable risk and expense of entrusting themselves to the cartels to make the journey. Finally, Kennedy proposes working with the Mexican government to stem the flow of transit migration through Mexico. Biden’s decision to hand effective control of immigration policy to the cartels has had a devastating impact on public safety on both sides of the border. The Mexican government has every incentive to cooperate in restoring order to the situation. Read the full article here. Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. Stops in Greenville While Touring the Palmetto State

WYFF News 4 reports: After stops in Charleston and Florence, Democratic candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. made his way to the Upstate. Kennedy held a town hall at Zen Greenville on Monday. Kennedy said many Americans are just running on empty. "It's Armageddon for a lot of Americans when the engine light comes on in their car. They are having to choose between buying gasoline or food or food or medicine," Kennedy said. Despite there not being a Democratic debate planned, Kennedy hopes President Biden will reconsider. "Politicians running for president ought to be doing retail politics. They ought to be debating their opponents, they ought to be campaigning, going into the nail salons, going into the barber shops, going into the dinners. Listening to what Americans are saying about what is happening to their lives," Kennedy said. Read the full article here. Bobby Kennedy, Jr.’s Heterodox Jobs Plan

Forbes reports: Like other parts of Kennedy’s heterodox campaign, this economic plan draws on ideas from across the political spectrum. His plan has been termed “working class capitalism” or “populist capitalism”, but whatever term is used, Kennedy challenges the mainstream Democratic narrative, in a way that no other campaign is doing. Beyond the individual policy challenges, Kennedy’s challenge to the Democratic leadership is a more fundamental one. His economics focus on class, not race or gender or the other identity categories that the Democratic party has become preoccupied with. For Kennedy, Americans need not be divided by race, gender or other identity categories. These categories are a distraction. Kennedy’s economics does not idealize or romanticize working class voters; but neither does he approach them as “bitter clingers” or economic losers. He refuses to demonize rural voters, conservatives, or Republicans, and recognizes why these voters have moved to the Republican party. Their economic discontents need to be taken seriously and addressed. While Kennedy’s populism stands out from other candidates, it finds echoes in a growing intellectual movement that is departing from the traditional populism on both the left and right.  Read the full article here. Poll: Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. Surges in South Carolina Among Likely Democrat Primary Voters

Breitbart reports: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is surging in South Carolina among Democrat voters, according to a poll released Monday. Kennedy Jr. now has the support of 24 percent of likely Democrat primary voters in a state that was pivotal to saving President Joe Biden’s flailing bid for the Democrat nomination. The poll showed that one key issue that could be helping Kennedy is his stance against the draconian coronavirus measures that were employed during the pandemic. Fifty-percent of likely voters in the South Carolina primary agreed that coronavirus lockdowns permanently closed millions of small businesses and disproportionately impacted African Americans. Kennedy Campaigns In Charleston As Supporters Tout SC As Key to Victory

The Well News reports: The line of cars extended three-quarters of a mile up Meeting Street Road, as the candidate strode into a side door at The Wonderer, the self-described “social and wellness club” that was the venue for the evening’s campaign event. Dismissed by some of the mainstream media as a kook and conspiracy theorist for his very “anti” position on COVID vaccine, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. seemed anything but as he entered the suite of conference rooms populated by a few staffers and a smattering of early-arriving reporters. Trim and fit in a blue shirt and tailored slacks, he seemed the embodiment of quiet, solidly-grounded equilibrium. No glad-hander, despite his running for the Democratic nomination for president, Kennedy offered a quick wave to a reporter whose eye he caught as he entered. A moment later, after a brief stop in one of the side rooms, he reemerged to say a quick hello as he was ushered to a waiting TV interviewer. “Hi,” he said, extending his hand. “I’m Bobby Kennedy.” Read the full article here.
