Democratic Presidential Candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. Hosts Town Hall in Charleston

WCBD News 2 reports: Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. hosted a town hall in Charleston on Wednesday. He spoke primarily about the economic issues he sees plaguing our country, and prior to taking the stage, News 2 spoke with him in an exclusive interview about those issues. Kennedy is looking to spread a message of “economic hope” in the Lowcountry, and across the nation; it’s something he thinks the country is currently lacking. “Both President Trump and President Biden are running on platforms that they’ve brought prosperity to this country,” Kennedy said. “But when I travel around South Carolina and other states, I’m not seeing that. I’m seeing people who are living at a level of desperation that I have not seen in this country ever.” Read the full article here. The Des Moines Register reports: The post-war period he grew up in, Kennedy said, was a time of great prosperity for the middle class, where American-made products had powerful worldwide appeal, as evoked history and childhood memories of his father and uncle. Kennedy presented a centerpiece of his Iowa campaign to the crowd during his speech: his opposition to the proposed carbon capture pipelines that could crisscross Iowa and other Midwestern states. Why the Left and the Liberal Media Fear RFK, Jr.

The Hill reports: To say that Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. is being negatively targeted by many in the left-of-center mainstream media would be an understatement. Not a day goes by that he is not vilified by a left-leaning news site. As Kennedy himself has stressed, if those on the left feel he is so dangerously wrong on what ails the Biden administration, draconian COVID policies or using Ukraine to fight a proxy war with Russia, why not debate him in a live setting and prove him to be the fool they claim him to be? I suspect such live debates would be watched and heard by millions of Americans seeking added clarity on those subjects and more. Sadly, the left’s fear of Kennedy will prevent them from happening. Kennedy, Jr. said that the wildfires in Maui and elsewhere in Hawaii are a problem that can unite both activists and skeptics of climate change, because the underlying cause is poor environmental management. Given History, RFK, Jr. Merits Secret Service Protection

The Las Vegas Review Journal reports: Last month, Mr. Kennedy tweeted that he had sought Secret Service protection, but that the agency ignored his request and then turned him down. “Since the assassination of my father in 1968, candidates for president are provided Secret Service protection. But not me,” he wrote. His campaign manager, the quixotic Dennis Kucinich, who also ran a long-odds presidential campaign in 2008, went further. “The American people, no matter their politics, will find this decision shocking and repugnant,” Mr. Kucinich said in a statement. “This is obviously a political decision, not a legal one. As such, this is directly on President Biden.” Mr. Kennedy’s request is neither unprecedented nor unreasonable. It is also understandable given the historical circumstances. Political considerations are a distraction in this case. The Biden administration should reverse course and provide Mr. Kennedy with Secret Service protection. Read the full article here. RFK, Jr.: Restoring Nation's Middle Class My Goal

The Berlin Sun reports: Candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. continued the New Hampshire tradition of retail politics as he met with Coos County residents Monday to explain why he is running for national office. Rebuilding the middle class of America, questioning the nation’s spending on military ventures including aid to Ukraine and detrimental environmental practices as they affect people’s well-being were among the topics he addressed to roughly 50 people seated on folding chairs on a rainy afternoon inside the Fraternal Order of Eagles club in downtown Berlin. Kennedy, 69, also explained why he is running as a Democrat and not as a third-party candidate as one audience member asked him. Restoring the public’s trust in the democratic process is a goal of Kennedy’s, and a reason for his decision to run in a mainstream party. Read the full article here.
