Mr. Kennedy is opposed to politicizing and weaponizing the Justice Department to persecute political opponents. If Former President Donald Trump is convicted, as President, Mr. Kennedy would base his decision about a pardon on whether the prosecution and conviction violated Mr. Trump’s rights or the principles of justice. Mr. Kennedy doesn’t think the answer to a politically-motivated prosecution is a politically-motivated pardon. Any such investigation and decision would be sourced from the principles of justice and fairness.
